T he Compound Sentence

Prompt:Two or more independent clauses may be joined to form a compound sentence.
Example:"In the 1860's the Civil War was fought, and the transcontinental railroad was built." Notice that independent clauses may be joined by a comma and a conjunction (and, but, or), or by a semicolon (;), or by a dash (—).
