dverb Identification
Lesson 1-35
Comments:
Prompt:
Adverbs are words that give added meaning to verbs and sometimes to other adverbs and adjectives. Adverbs usually follow the verb they modify; however, they may be found before the verb or within the verb phrase. Adverbs tell ... where ... when ... why ... how ... the action of the verb takes place.
Example:
Note the adverbs underlined in the following: 1) "The team plays
hard
" ("hard" tells how the team plays). 2) "The team
quickly
scored" ("quickly" tells when the team scored).
